I spoiled myself with an amazing Jura automated coffee machine which makes fantastic coffee but the old school Italian Moka has been with me forever and occasionally I still make coffee this way. In this video, I will show you how to use moka pot to make a perfect moka pot espresso. We’ll explore the three compartments of this stovetop espresso maker and ensure you get the best moka pot coffee every time, especially with a Bialetti moka express.

INGREDIENTS:
Coffee ground
Water
METHOD:
1) Start by adding water to the base of your moka, making sure it sits just below the safety valve. This is important, never cover it.
2) Place the filter basket inside and check that no water is pushing through. If it is, simply pour a little out. Then fill the basket completely with ground coffee, levelling it gently with the back of a spoon. No pressing, just smooth it out.
3) Close the moka tightly and place it on the stove over low heat. Keep the lid open so you can watch the coffee as it begins to rise, this is one of the best parts.
4) As the coffee slowly comes through, you’ll hear a whistling sound. Once it starts to finish, turn off the heat straight away.
HOW TO SERVE:
Carefully remove the moka from the stove, open it, and give the coffee a quick stir, this brings up the richest part sitting at the bottom and blends all those beautiful aromas together.
Pour it straight into a small espresso cup and enjoy it immediately while it’s hot.
For the full Italian experience, serve it with a crunchy amaretti, a delicate sfogliatella, or a fresh, buttery croissant. That first sip, paired with something sweet, is what makes an Italian morning feel complete.

James Hoffman and Lance Hedrick – take him down :-))))
How hot is the pot and it's handle after being heated for a long, long time, over low heat?
Love my Moka pot but doesn't make creama like the coffee shop.
I’m an amateur. So I must ask..that’s espresso coffee and not just regular coffee right? The grinds are different? I need to find an espresso grinder I think.
Th only thing better than coffee in the morning is to have someone else make it and serve it to you in bed. 48 years of marriage and I’m still working on my wife to do that ( yeah I make the coffee)
Sofia Loren used a Neopolitan flip coffee pot.
🤌🏻😋🤌🏻
Assolutamente, preparalo molto lentamente. Fai la cacca, poi scendi e bevi il tuo espresso. Sento l'odore del tuo caffè fin da qui.
Never knew how to use that thing. Going to get me one now, Amazing video. Thanks Chef!
That's how I like to make it, and following your recent video ranking the best coffees, I managed to get hold of Kimbo coffee beans. I have to say, it's taken my coffee to the next level.
I owned one of those when I lived in Rimini years ago. They called it a cafeteria (cah-fay-tare-EE-ah) I bought a bialetti but haven't used it much. I will start using it again, especially after seeing how it's supposed to be done.
The cartridge in my Bialetti is a little bit to small, so sometimes it falls into the water container. I´ll never buy Bialetti-Products again.
Again the shitty trick of never washing your moka pot. Italians apparently do not know that coffee oils like any other oils are organic compounds that gets rancid and rotten… but they think rotten stuff adds something good to a coffee
I have always used ground espresso in mine. Wondering if you use other kinds of coffee, too. If so, which ones are good?
I used to make coffee this way in the office. Coffee made this way is strong and has a wonderful smell, but to me it doesn't have the creaminess and fullness of flavor of an espresso. There's no negotiation when it comes to coffee, for me espresso is a MUST 🙂
I'm doing it all wrong, I had no idea you put that much coffee in! I put 2 heaped teaspoons and I thought that was too much as its supposedly one per person. Plus I heat it on full blast as I have no time to be messing around in the morning. Grind your own coffee and heat slowly, who's got time for that during a working week!? Great video though.
How much betrayal can Paulie take?
Great Vincenzo. I have an electric Bialetti mokka, having it always with me on my various travels. Especially to Asia where I don't like the espresso they serve. And of course I even carry my Italian coffee Quarta from Puglia with me. I made fans for this Italian made espresso of my thai friends, they wait for my visit😂. And in fact just recently I bought the induction plate for my home in Vienna/Austria.
What brand of coffee are you using?
Some do.
I’ve been making coffee like this for over 15 years. It’s brilliant, no other way is as good 😊
Grazie!
That's how my grandmother used to make it when I was kid. My Dad loved it this way especially when company came over. Now sadly I don't have the time anymore I leave for work at 4am. Only on the weekends now ☕ Salute.
Did he start with cold water? My coffee keeps coming out sour
Nona says!❤
I can taste that! Coffee is gluten free! I need to borrow your pot, lol😅😂
I used to drink coffee made in those percolators, and they were nice. However, I would recommend not using aluminum ones. Aluminum heats up quickly, and when used for boiling water or coffee, small amounts of aluminum can leach into the liquid. This can make the water more acidic and may cause health problems for some people. So I would recommend not using aluminum models, but stainless steel ones instead.
Recent studies also suggest that using aluminum for cooking ( including percolators) and other other aluminum kitchen utensils, may lead to aluminum exposure, which could contribute to various health concerns/problems.
Who gives a fuck what someone else does. Only you will be drinking it so do what you like. Coffee is horrible anyway
I love making coffee on our Moka pot. Looking to get a Bialeti soon. We have a. Espresso machine as well but is just something special about a Moka pot ☕️
In timer we trust!! Set your timer or you WILL burn your coffee!!
This is exactly how my nonno and nonna taught me how to use the Moka pot, even down to the stir before pouring (because the first of the coffee is the best/strongest and sits at the bottom). They always had a cabinet filled with different sized Moka pots and I always wondered why. Now I have my own house and have a cabinet filled with different sized Moka pots. Never know when you’re going to need to make 15 cups at a time. 😂
How exactly do I know when my coffee is ready?
