Okay… I finally tried the viral puff pastry hot dog—and I’m not gonna lie, I get the hype now.

We were both kind of like… are we really going to like this?
But these ended up being so good we just stood at the counter and devoured them.

I took it a step further and made the puff pastry from scratch, then layered in fig jam, caramelized onions, sharp white cheddar (or brie), and a few fresh herbs from the garden—rosemary and thyme.

And something about that sweet + savory combo wrapped in flaky, buttery pastry just works.
Crispy, rich, a little unexpected… and way more elevated than it has any right to be.

This is one of those recipes that feels fun and a little indulgent, but ends up being surprisingly elevated. Definitely one we’ll be making again.
