Yes, evidence shows wine was made in ancient Persia (modern Iran) around 7,000 years ago (5000 BCE), with discoveries at Hajji Firuz Tepe in the Zagros Mountains revealing jars containing tartaric acid (from grapes) and resin, indicating early fermented, resinated grape drinks used for preservation and medicine, making Iran a crucial birthplace of winemaking alongside Georgia.
Key Findings from ~7000 Years Ago:
Location: The earliest evidence comes from Hajji Firuz Tepe, a Neolithic village in Iran’s Zagros Mountains.
The Jars: Researchers found six pottery jars in a “kitchen” area, one of which held the oldest known wine container.
Chemical Clues: Analysis found calcium salt of tartaric acid (naturally in grapes) and resin from the terebinth tree (used as a preservative), suggesting a resinated wine similar to Greek retsina.
Significance: This discovery shows humans were fermenting grape beverages when establishing permanent settlements, indicating a long history of winemaking experience.
Persian Wine Culture:
Cultural Importance: Wine in Persia (Iran) has a rich history, appearing in mythology (like the story of King Jamshid’s princess) and literature (Hafiz, Omar Khayyam).
Symbolism: Wine symbolized hospitality, love, and divine connection.
Modern Context: Despite its ancient roots, wine production faces restrictions in modern Iran, though some still make it privately.
Global Context:
The Iranian finds confirm Persia as a primary cradle of winemaking.

All true 👍 💯
There were no Persians in the Zagros 7000 years ago. The Iranian tribes didn't move into the Iranian plateau until around 1500 BC. That wine from Haji Firuz Tepe was made by the Dalma culture who are likely part of the ancestry of modern Iranians, but they were definitely not Persians.
