ABOUT:

Hi! I’m Valeria — a content creator and the mind behind Dramatically Expatic. With a background in TV (yes, I once hosted my own show—slightly more polished than this chaos), I now embrace the creative freedom of the digital world. After spending half of my life in Italy, I’ve recently begun a new chapter in Ireland — and Dramatically Expatic is evolving with me. Here, I share stories, guides, and insights on expat life, travel, and building a life abroad — from Italy to Ireland and beyond. Expect a mix of practical advice, aesthetic inspiration, and a touch of drama (the good kind).

  1. I know it’s expensive in Ireland. I am from England so I know it well. I have lived in Italy 44 years and I am glad for it. Near London rent is not worth even mentioning.
It doesn’t matter if your place is older but you have the location and the price advantage. Well done!
Buying is ridiculous I know. I have a house near London that I am trying to sell it because I have to pay tax on it in Italy ( Brexit Tax ). It is property tax on property owned outside the EU and the UK is out of the EU. I didn’t buy It. I inherited it. It is hard to sell at the moment and the tax grows and it is due every year. Not small money ( in the tens of thousands ).
Glad you found your unicorn place.
Wow! Sounds expensive to buy groceries and meat too much! I know England is super expensive too. Drinks are untouchable!!!!
I’m sure pizza is extra super expensive.
Coffee untouchable and is crap in comparison.
Suggestion: find an Italian delicatessen and some of them have an Italian coffee machine and charge cheaply or nothing if you shop there. I do that when I am in England.
I pay from 0 to £ 1 for a coffee that is the same as in Italy. Not cafe Nero or Starbucks bad quality at rip off prices.
Codice fiscale is free in Italy
I get my documents from the comune by pec email within 1 hour and it is totally free!
I live in Italy and I pay nothing for any document from the Comune. And I do it from my house without going anywhere.
You can talk what it is like to run a business and to start a business in Ireland. I have only ever run a business in Italy even if my parents had a business in England and I know how that worked because I worked hard in the family business and all the accountant things and tax and National Insurance etc.
Glad you are getting along well step by step with your new start. Take care and see you soon…..

  2. I love your videos no matter where you live… your Italian videos really help me discover gems whenever I visit Italy but I’m going to love discovering Ireland with you. I think everything will work out brilliantly for you.

  3. I am sad to see you leave Italy but I completely understand. As a history lover, it would be cool to see videos about Irish history. Buona fortuna in Irlanda! Paul in Sicily

  4. I think I paid 900 for Dublin -university complex and one room in shared apartment, it was modern, big windows, in a park, so I was glad, but it was haha, almost 20 years ago 😀 I am so old. Wish you good luck and nice rides in doubledecker 🙂 the front seats above bus driver are the best 🙂

  5. I cant believe its more expensive than living in texas.

I missed the reason why u moved to ireland however, go back to italy and buy yourself a house. Do it fast before italy’s prices get that high

  6. I love this video reminding me the ones back in Italy comparing budgets, or visiting Italy on the budget with all tips and advices that I definitely used while visiting Venice and staying in Mestre! Rentals in Ireland seem to be very high compared to some parts in Italy, Northern being pricier than Southern and right now the rents or real estate are out of control all over the world ! You’ll settle down and make it your home wherever you’re going ! Best of luck! 🌸😍🌸

  7. Hi, I love your channel 😊 Did you recommend living in Italy for retreat ? In other way did you left Italy just for professional reason ? Or is it other actual change in Italy that make you choose to move? Thanks

  8. Hi, thanks for sharing this video 😊 I am Italian myself and I lived in the Netherlands for many years. I think that we cannot compare food/beverage/alchol drinks between Italy and the rest of the countries in central/north Europe: the Italian salaries are ridiculously low compared to most countries in Europe and they are stuck to the salaries back to twenty or more years ago, therefore the living prices are relatively lower than Ireland, for example.
Besides that, I can understand the shock at the beginning because I had the same reaction when I moved to Holland! Good luck
