ONE EASY INGREDIENT FOR THE MOST INCREDIBLE ITALIAN APPETIZER

One ingredient and 10 minutes is all you need to create the most deliciously crunchy Italian appetizer! These crispy cheese chips originate from the Northern region of Italy and pair perfectly with some prosecco or any other bubbly drink…a great addition to a charcuterie board as well. My Italian mother loves these!

Crespelle al Formaggio

3 cups grated hard cheese (parmesan, pecorino romano, asiago, or grana padano)

Heat a fry pan over medium heat. No need to add oil since the cheese has enough to not make it stick.
Sprinkle cheese into pan in a thin even layer. Heat for about 30 seconds or so until cheese melts and starts to turn golden…be careful not to burn it.
Use a spatula to lift out of the pan and lay onto parchment to cool. They will crisp up in a minute or two and then they can be broken into chips
Serve with wine or prosecco or any other bubble drink you prefer

  1. These would be great for someone who has to watch their sugar intake as most chips are off the menu for a diabetic. Thank you Lisa!

  2. ChomP! Those wouldn’t last long around me! 😅
I’ve been meaning to tell you how much I love that glass flower ball votive holder. It’s so beautiful in your presentations and has become your signature stamp. 🩷

  3. Lisa! These cheese recipes are AMAZING!!!! I can't wait to try them! I only have Pecorino Romano on hand, so I will start with that. Keep those Specialty Italian recipes coming! They are treasures!! Sei bravissima!!! Complimenti! Saluti da New York! Mrs. D.

  4. Lovely ideas for the "cheese crisps" – especially liked the idea of them in salad as you suggested! Enjoyed seeing the lovely flowers in your yard, also. Blessings, Janet

  5. You can take the warm cheese and pour it over a rounded dish too.) It is lovely with a simple salad in the crisp on a plate. I have also done this in a smaller pan and poured it over the wide bottom of a wine glass and filled with a stuffed crab/cheese mushroom. I cannot take credit for this as I saw Anthony Bourdain at a Restaurant in Italy do this. I was totally inspired by this.
