During out bucket list trip to the Winter Olympics, we searched for good food. Overall the food in Chiusa was great and surprising. I would normally rave about a European city’s pastries, but they were just terrible here. Hard, dry, and tasteless. Maybe we were searching in the wrong places.

Of the three restaurants we at ate, we thought the food was pretty good.

1. Turmwirt had an old timey feel to it. Almost like you stepped back into time and tradition. The food felt like a home cooked meal, but overall needed more salt!! 8 out of 10 for yumminess!

2. Hirschen Cervo was really good. I thought the veal ragout was yummy and the deer chop was tender with that great venison taste. My husband’s veal was cold inside, which makes us think they were warmed up leftovers. We would still give it an 8 out of 10.

3. Our favorite restaurant was Gassel Bräu in old town Chiusa. I’m sure the beer there is fantastic because lots of people were there for just that reason, but we were there for the pork knuckle!!!! OMG, it was sooo good. The skin was perfectly crispy and the meat juicy and delicious. 9 out of 10 for perfect execution! Oh, and the dumplings were good too…
