Today we are in Frisa, in Abruzzo, where Anna Maria is preparing one of the region’s most comforting traditional dishes: sagne e fagioli — sagne with beans. It’s olive-harvest time, and her cousins and extended family have all gathered to help. Join us as we spend the day with Anna Maria and her family, learning about their traditions, their food, and life in rural Abruzzo.

Well, now I want beans. Well done Anna Maria for preserving her dialect sayings and rhymes, it's startling how fast things "everybody knows" can utterly vanish from history when not written down. She's a good poet, too.
I loved this video!!! Soo lovely!!! Wonderful poet as well!!
Love that poem. So beautiful! The pasta and beans look delicious! I grew a lot of dried beans this year so that recipe is definitely something I will try this winter.
Anna Maria's poem made me cry and miss my Mama. I love all of the Italian ways of combining beans with pasta, and this one sounds wonderful.

Una donna versatile! Grazie signora per la ricetta.
I'm wondering why all these beautiful grannies have a big board for making pasta, but it seems that they
don't have a cutting board for vegetables. Is there any reason for this?
I'm very curious.
💚
Grazie mille Anna Maria e Nicola, una nuova ricetta sagne e fagioli, oppure pasta e fagioli. Thanks again Vicky brining these rich Nonnas, rich in culture, artistry and love of Italia. Beautiful poem brought tears to my eyes. Their dialect not far from our own Napoletano. Olive collecting was a favorite of my folks when they were young. Thank-you again and God bless all of you.🙏💖🥰🌺😋😋😋😋🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
Hi pasta grannies is there a way to buy her book I would love to read it
Awesome. We need to keep these recipes and teach younger generations how to do these things not to get lost with time. That looks delicious. I would love to eat something like that fresh. ❤
I had some left over mashed potatoes from Thanksgiving dinner and I decided to turn them into gnocchi with pomodoro sauce. They were delicious. I thought of Pasta Grannies as we enjoyed them 🙂
I love everything about this intelligent lady
My favourite meal my mum makes. Beautiful work brava
What a wonderfully hearth warming video, thank you very much Vicky ! Nicola and Anna Maria look so young and lovely, the dish looks healthy and tasty (I would add cheese however), and I am glad that you could convince Anna Maria to read out one of her poems.
What dialect was that beautiful poem? Frisan? I can't find any info online, and I'm so curious. Thanks! The pasta looks yummy too!
I could not love this video more. ❤
Her poem was beautiful!!!
I just love all of these stories. Anna Maria wrote a book in her dialect, which is quite a project. Languages tend to homogenize in the modern communication speeds and this was great to see. Such fresh ingredients and the beans add much needed protein. The olive trees make great oil but that is hard work. May Anna and her verse continue! Thanks for another great episode!
Really appreciate this channel for so many reasons. One wish would be to drop the music, or at least lower it and change it periodically.
Scrumptious ❤
What a lovely treat! Beautiful poetry and a hearty, delicious meal. Thank you so much!
È mia zia😂🎉🎉🎉
How could that man possibly be 90? The traditional Italian lifestyle and food must be the healthiest in the world. Bless you Anna Maria. I too still cry every time I talk about my mother, although she died, far too young, twenty-five years ago. I'd give years of my own life to have her with me again for just a day.
Nonno is looking great at 90. Country Italian living must be the best medicine for a long productive life.
