  1. LOVE this and so proud WQED supports local businesses. Hello again, from Las Vegas from an original East End Pittsburgh guy! There were so many wonderful Pizza places in that area, back in the day., you never had to travel outside that area. So pleased to see Pittsburgh expanding those boundaries and embracing all sorts of new places,as well as honoring the great older ones too. Cheers to all of these good Pittsburgh hard working people.

  2. This sounds like an incredibly fun and authentic Pittsburgh tradition! A Pizza Showdown featuring community favorites like Vincent's, Beto's, and Driftwood Oven is the perfect way to celebrate the 'Burgh's unique food scene.

  3. Unique to pittsburgh? Yes. Is it any good? I have not met any outside of pittsburgh that agrees with this.

  4. I think this Betos has nothing to Do with the one we loved near South Park then Pleasant Hills. 👍👍👍👍 Was right close to Dannys.

  5. The only Vincent's I had was made by Shelly who later opened up her own place. Very similar and both great.

  6. I always laugh at people that say only nyc or philly or chicago have good pizza they do but so does Pittsburgh. There are dozens of legit pizza shops in pittsburgh area that does everything from the different to the traditional and everything in between. We have places that have won multiple world pizza championships. If you live here and say the pizza isn't good you need to do some research. Pizza is a massive part of the culture here. Love the series.

  7. When people tell me they’re ordering Vincent’s for dinner I leave early…that pizza is disgusting slop. Vincent’s pepperoni pizza is like if “morbidly obese” were a meal

  8. The only ohio valley pizza I ever liked was dicarlos. Beto might not be bad but I despise chunky sauce. My wife and I are big fans of pizza Italia in Bloomfield now. We've had their Sicilian, regular and buffalo chicken and all were great

  9. I grew up on Vincent’s pizza,(Vinnie pie). My mom worked for Equitable Gas and helped draw up the paperwork when he opened in I believe the early 1960’s. I lived in Chalfant Borough and could see Vincent’s from my back porch. Great memories, great pizza.

  10. Pizza in The Burgh is mediocre at best. Fiori’s is passable and that Detroit style place in The Strip is decent. Sorry, don’t mean poop on my home town.

  11. For the best pizza, you have to go down to Washington to the Union Grill. Their specialty pizzas (especially the carbonara and the spinach & feta) are amazing.

  12. Vincent's Pizza Park is amazing I still miss the old mirror they had along the wall that they took out even though it had New York on it and the twin towers. However beto's Pizza is disgusting I mean it's gross and they just put cold cheap cheese on a store-bought marinara sauce not even pizza sauce and the bread is cheap it's absolutely disgusting I can't even believe people eat that garbage.

  13. Pittsburgh has the best! Chicago doesn’t have pizza, it’s more like a thick layer of cheese, sausage, which will keep you warm in winter.
