CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) — A highly anticipated Italian restaurant on the West Shore officially made its debut over the weekend.

abc27 News reported earlier this month that local business owner Alfredo Iannuzzi confirmed that his newest restaurant, called Pompeii: Italian Grill, Brick Oven Pizza & Cocktails, located at 2 A Street, Building 1 in Carlisle, would be opening later this summer.

On Saturday, August 22, after nearly 10 years of planning, the new Pompeii officially made its debut, marking Iannuzzi’s second restaurant to open in the Midstate.

According to Iannuzzi, the new Pompeii restaurant offers a wide range of upscale Italian cuisine such as pasta entrees, steaks, seafood, salads, and more. The establishment also boasts a vast wine and cocktail menu for patrons to enjoy.

Another stand-out offering at Pompeii is their brick oven pizza, which is created in an authentic brick oven that was shipped to the United States from Italy.

Pompeii occupies a 5,000-square-foot space with indoor seating for 175 guests and about 40 seats at its outside patio. The establishment’s hours of operation are:

Sundays through Thursdays // 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Fridays and Saturdays // 11 a.m. to Midnight

Iannuzzi first moved to the United States back in November 1999 after completing his service with the Italian Air Force. In 2005, he opened his first restaurant called Marcello’s Ristorante & Pizza on 900 Cavalry Road in Carlisle.
