Basically, in this video, I use AI to reconstruct Constantinople at its absolute peakโa metropolis of half a million people, the most advanced city on Earth, while the rest of Europe was collapsing into darkness. It’s not just about looking at buildings; we explore the indestructible Theodosian Walls, the underground Basilica Cistern held up by 336 columns, and the impossible dome of Hagia Sophia at their absolute peak. We contrast that vibrant realityโwhere a peasant emperor and a former actress rewrote the laws of the entire Western worldโwith the silent ruins and sunken legends that remain today.
We also break down the exact moment the city tore itself apart during the Nika Revolt, how Theodora’s single speech saved an empire, and how two monks hid silkworm eggs inside bamboo walking sticks to pull off the most daring act of industrial espionage in history. It’s crazy to see what was actually built on the ashes of that chaos, especially since the legal code Justinian commissioned still governs France, Germany, Japan, and most of Latin America today.

๐โจConstantinople's history is so incredibly vast that for this episode, I wanted to focus specifically on the 500s AD and the era of Justinian and Theodora! ๐ Because there's just too much to cover, I'll be making 2 or 3 more videos to explore the rest of this city's epic timeline. ๐บ Let me know in the replies what you thought of this chapter, and make sure to subscribe! ๐
As a creator, I want to acknowledge that AI still makes mistakes, even with specific prompts and detailed research. Since these models are trained on millions of modern images, they often tend to represent historical elements through a contemporary lens. Iโm constantly working to minimize these issues, and I hope that as AI technology advances, weโll be able to correct and improve all the flaws visible in the video today. Thanks for your understanding and for being part of this journey!
Did the greens wear tiny hats? Not yet
Didn't the Moslems use the Hagia Sofia as a stable at first?
Very recently scientist are saying that it wasn't the rats or the fleas. Instead it was passed from human to human perhaps like the flu.
Kebab Persian word was already part of diet for Constantinople I guess.

you must have spent a fortune for this video
Istanbul
Hey make such video about the Friedrich II Staufen
the western barbarians (ancestors of modern day french, german, italians, belgians, dutch etc) sacked the city, raped and slaughtered the population, destroyed all artifacts and stole all its wealth in 1204. What the Turks conquered in 1453 was in fact Constantinople's decadent ghost
If they ever revive โRomeโ Iโd take it right to Anastasius I and the resurgence of the East, then the great Persian war
Gรผneล 1453 Doฤdu.
This was always in 500 AD. what about up 2 the Ottoman Turk invasion
And detail the war, and the changes made by the Turks 2 the city
These videos are so fantastic, and this one I really enjoyed. And the history lesson was really awesome too! And I just like whatever ones you do, but if you ever get around to it, I would love to see one of one of the major ancient Roman Gaul cities in Southern France. These videos are so cool how they bring these ancient cities back to life, like we're being transported there!
Constantinopole whose first name was Carigrad ( Emperor city ) ๐
It will be such a good day when the four minarets around St Sophia church are demolished.

Very nice video, but in the beginning AI narrator says January 332 AD instead of 532 AD. Please fix this
Before MUSLIMS stole it, and turned it into a shithole, this city is not "Turkish" its GREEK .. Built and created by GREEKS.
