Food tours are becoming a must do experience in many cities.
It is a great way to try local food, embrace the culture and learn so much.
I went on a tour with @devourtours5053 and had the best wine and food experience.
The tour was based around the Oltrarno neighbourhood which is on the other side of the River Arno.
We met at the famous Piazza Santo Spirito.
We started with a Negroni . Did you know it was invented in Florence? It’s also a great aperitif and perfect for building an appetite.
Once we finished our Negroni we went to a popular wine window, in Babae. This wine window was featured in Stanley Tucci’s “searching for Italy “ and it’s been popular since the pandemic. The wine windows were a dying trade until the pandemic hit. The idea is great and the history behind is fascinating. Mara explained it to well.
We had now built an appetite and we went to a great local spot, Caffe Notte, for some Chianti Classico and lots of picky bites.
Bruschetta with fresh tomato, Schiacciate With onions, Pecorini cheese with honey, salami with Fennel and Truffle cheese. The spread was so good and paired perfectly with the wine.
From here we went onto Trattoria Napoleone for pasta and meat. The dishes were so well cooked. I had their vegetarian alternative instead of the beef and it was delicious. The T bone steak was a hit and the pasta .. it’s just the best here
No Italian food tour would be complete without Gelato and that was our last stop. A classic gelatoria that serves creamy and beautiful gelato.
We got so many tips from Mara and the group got on well which means
