You've clearly finished your trip, but sad if you missed Sevilla and Lisbon in Iberia. Much, much nicer than Catalunya IMO. Food is good everywere, though.
Barca is top five touristy cities in Europe and your tapas bar visit wasn't too bad. Could've been very expensive as it's a pace for content creators. You were ordering raciones, so full portions of tapas. Barca/Catalunya isn't the greatest for tapas. Much a southern thing.

A while back, (was it from Anthony Bourdain?) I heard that Spain has surpassed France as the destination for culinary innovation and dining. Just your little experiences in Barcelona certainly prove it. I have a distinctly different reaction to the delicious dishes youสปre trying in Spain from those in the UK. The Boqueria is more for tourist which is why most food is pre fab, the Santa Catarina Market is more for locals. The food there in general is outstanding and yes the olives, Manchego and jamon are spectacular

Barcelona was my grandmother's favorite city outside of Honolulu or Wailuku where she was from. She raved about the history, churches and food.
