In a shocking upset on Friday, “Quad God” Ilia Malinin placed 8th after stumbling in his free skate performance at the Winter Olympics. CBS News’ Kelly O’Grady reports.

The mefia refused to acknowledge contributiona of the Black woman who historically was the first in breaking these records. He will bounce back. But hopefully he will humbly give credit where it is due. To take credit without any nod to trailblazers before you and to self proclaim oneself as a God erases accuracy in history and deepens racial disparities in the sport.

We all need to be reminded that EXTERNAL validation from things such as medals won in competition are not the point in life. INTERNAL goal setting and striving towards excellence are important. Ilia embodies ideas such as high standards, pushing towards the unattainable, and working hard. He dared to dream of something bigger and he has accomplished skills far beyond his peers before the Olympics. Mission accomplished on those goals.
Ilia is an ARTIST. I hope he continues to explore his beautiful expression on the ice because he has a lot to say to the world through his skating. This setback will only make his artistic expression even better as he now has to deal with the challenges that life gives us when we fail to reach our goals. I hope he responds with resilience and continued faith in his inherent value as a fellow human aside from whatever he accomplishes in his skating career. I wish him all the best on his life journey!

Actually did anyone else notice that it’s not just Ilia- multiple skaters also fell. But here’s the thing, the other skaters and Ilia fell at the exact same spot! So was it not actually Ilia’s fault?! Or was there something wrong with the ice?! And since we all know that Ilia is the goat 🐐, is the Olympics just too much for anyone?
But Ilia will always be the star of the ice ⭐️🌟
In Canada they played this during the intermission of team canada game.. man the whole country was laughing at this.. they made a big deal and went from the hockey game to this hahahah it was pure comedy

Fortune and misfortune come and go, and disappointment is inevitable.
Although it was a difficult and painful moment, he is still, at this point, the top skater in men’s figure skating.

Well…I guess he won't be selling his Quad God t-shirts at events anymore. Another massive ego has fallen. Congrats to the true champions who gave him this needed lesson in humility. Even Kurt Browning wisely said that "he thought he could reach Mt. Olympus and failed" and agreed that his hubris did him in.

I feel sorry for him. I guess he's used to being the best and just one mistake made him too nervous so he failed the rest of the jumps. The pressure was just too high – you have to prove yourself over and over and at some point you will break.
