This place is known to all residents and many visitors of Monaco. Café Riviera on Boulevard de Moulins opened its doors back in 1955. The owners of Riviera are the famous pastry chef Alex Seleznev and his business partner Nikolai Jour. I popped into Riviera on a winter evening to find out how they came to Monaco and became owners of a landmark café in the Principality and their plans for the future.

  1. Thank you to Alex Seleznev und Nikolai Zhur for sharing their story. I wish them great success with their brand Riviera. I like the red Box with the golden "Riviera" letters. Great questions from Sander Recommends and insightful and interesting answers from Alex Seleznev und Nikolai Zhuanswers.

  2. Sergey:

Another excellent film. I observe "everything" and want you to know I noticed how elegantly and…
discreetly you handled one issue. At the 2:31 mark he mentioned, "Everyone thought we were going to launder money".

I know Monaco WELL. I I know that people in government and elsewhere…. thought that of the two gentlemen because they are both Russian. Most people would not "see the connection" regarding how difficult it is to be allowed to live OR own a business there. and being from Russia or "Eastern Bloc Countries".. In Monaco, WHERE people are from DOES count when the Principality considers approval for residency or business ownership.

People do not realize how SERIOUSLY the Principality takes unethical and illegal behaviour. Which means, once someone DOES own a business……Monaco remains THE safest place on earth….in which to own a business.
And, such people will be welcomed in all social circles for a lifetime. 🙂

This one issue and the manner in which all three of you so discreetly addressed it, continues to evidence how successful Albert and his government have been in securing the Principality's good reputation because of the people who are there.

    Bravo. :). Antoine
