It’s the highly anticipated reunion of Matthew Ridge and Marc Ellis! We needed some help mediating, so we also brought in Sir John Kirwan. We cover the origins of Macca and Ridgey’s friendship, how they stood out in a conservative era of rugby, how JK helped usher them in, the difference between union and league, the time Marc had a panic attack, and much more!

  1. Talking of concussions ill never forget watching Mark Graham sending Ivan Cleary out when getting knocked out i think 4 times in a row. It may have been against the Storm that particular game

  2. Reminds me of my family. Quick wit , sharp tongues. If you cried over the heat they just laughed harder. Kiwi Gold.

  3. As a kiwi living in Dallas, Texas now days and having grown up watching JK, Ridge'y and Marc Ellis in union and league this podcast I stumble across was sick!!

  4. Just magic! Elite athletes swimming up stream, provides great anecdotes, hillarious moments, that in hindsight & maturity is very insightful. Just great TV

  5. This whole podcast had everything us males in nz should be doing more of with our friends, talking about old stories, having laughs but also chatting about anxiety/depression . Conversations like this is a must for us.

  6. Grew up watching macca and ridgey during the golden days and man such a trip to see them both together again talking about their backstrories of their carrers , honestly need to bring them back. Also sir john kerwin giving macca advice on anxiety and depression just class…nowadays people can talk freely about it and help will be there but man gotta understand back then men had to be harder than rocks and the fact sir JK came out speak about it help others during a time when men cant cry kind of mentality was just and still class. Hoping for another episode to see these guys again.

  7. Times have changed so much and what use to be acceptable isnt today, so its dam refreshing to watch some blokes drink, swear & reminisce old war stories.
No harm done, in fact touched on some serious issues, with solutions. JK is a legend, and well deserved of his Knighthood.

  9. i remember when i was 10 we ran around the bays in auckland. these two legends were in the race too, must have been 1997 maybe? obviously they were much fitter back then, all i remember that day was ridgey, marc and the pyramid pile of fresh up cans at the finish line

  10. Really needed 5 or 6 hours listening to those guys!! Brilliant and hilarious…….with some sobering serious moments as well. Just awesome.

  11. As a kiwi-born poly who grew up in the 90s/00s, This is the best podcast I've seen in a long time. Thanks for bringing back some good memories! Legends! I truly miss the good ol Kiwi humour we all grew up watching.

  12. Watched 30 secs of rugby with out the commentary. One of the stupidest things I’ve seen. β€œGrown” men knocking each other over in pursuit of a ball. Ridiculous.
