A Gustav Klimt painting titled ‘Portrait of a Lady’ presumed stolen from Piacenza’s Ricci Oddi Modern Art Gallery in 1997 has reportedly been found inside the gallery’s walls, as seen in footage shot on Wednesday.
A gardener at the art gallery told Italian state TV on Tuesday that he was clearing ivy when he found a bag containing the painting inside a space within the walls.
Footage shows the painting, one of the most sought-after stolen works in the world, being guarded by security personnel.
Further analysis is underway to certify the authenticity of the work.
