MAXATAWNY TWP., Pa. – A longstanding destination for pizza, pasta and other Italian specialties has bid farewell in Berks County.
Valentino’s Restaurant, a full-service restaurant and bar offering authentic, freshly prepared Italian cuisine, has closed at 15492 Kutztown Road in Maxatawny Township.
The announcement was made on the business’ Facebook page.
“Farewell, the lights have gone down, and the doors have closed at Valentino’s Restaurant and Bar in Kutztown,” the online announcement reads.
“For nearly half a century, this space has been so much more than a restaurant. It has been a place of shared milestones, traditions, first dates, and late-night laughs. Since 1978, we have had the absolute honor of feeding your families, celebrating your triumphs, and being a part of this beautiful community.”
For nearly 50 years, Valentino’s served up Italian specialties such as bruschetta, lasagna, manicotti, lobster ravioli, shrimp scampi over linguini and veal parmesan with spaghetti.
The restaurant also featured a full bar.
Valentino’s operated at the busy intersection of Kutztown Road (Route 222) and Long Lane, which has undergone extensive construction work in recent months as a roundabout is constructed.
Earlier this month, a stretch of Long Lane between 222 and Topton Road reopened following a months-long closure.

We also want to give thanks for standing by us during this recent road construction — your loyalty and dedication meant everything to us.
