Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza & Wings has been named the best national pizza chain for the second year in a row.Despite being named the top pizza chain by customers, Anthony’s has only 50 locations throughout six states.Fans love the pizza, but maintain that its wings are even better.
Even as a New Yorker, I admit that I sometimes cave in to ordering a pie from a national chain—don’t come for me! I’m partial to a thin-crust Domino’s pizza, and while editors at Delish declared Papa John’s to have the best slice from any national chain, fans across the country have declared a different, under-the-radar chain to be the king of ‘za.
For the second year running, Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza & Wings was named the Best National Pizza Chain— this year by Reviewed’s Readers’ Choice Awards, and last year by Newsweek. For those of you unfamiliar with the chain, that’s likely due to its limited presence.
Anthony’s first opened in 2002, and while it has since expanded to include 50 locations, you can only find the chain in six states—Delaware, Florida, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. But people who live near a restaurant are devoted.
“Probably the best chain restaurant. Definitely best chain pizza,” one customer shared in a Reddit thread. “Great pizza and great wings,” another person declared.

“Pizza is surprisingly good and so are there garlic knots,” another fan posted. And while Anthony’s has high praise for its pizza, many customers share that their wings are even better.
“Something about their wings just hits different,” one fan wrote. “I think the highlights are the wings and salad more than the pizza, though I still think their pizza is very good,” another person shared.
“Good/ decent pizza Awesome wings Splitting food amongst multiple people at a reasonable price. Overall it’s a good place,” one person stated of the chain. “Awesome, quality ingredients,…very good, I eat there often,” another frequent customer wrote.
To celebrate the chain’s newest accolade, all Anthony’s location will be offering guests a 12” Cheese Pizza + 6 Garlic Knots for just $9.99 for dine-in customers for a limited time.
It looks like Pizza Hut and Domino’s have some competition.
