What can street food tell you about a place? 🇮🇹
In this video, I travel through Catania, Sicily, to discover some of the most underrated food in Italy and understand what people here actually eat.
For tourists, Sicilian street food can seem like something fun to try on holiday. But for the people who live here, many of these foods are connected to family, childhood, tradition, and everyday life.
Catania’s food has been shaped by centuries of poverty, migration, trade, and survival. Simple ingredients became dishes that are now part of the identity of the city, and recipes have been passed from one generation to another.
You can see that history everywhere — in the markets, in the small food stalls, in the bakeries, and in the people preparing the same dishes their families have eaten for decades.
This video is not only about trying Italian food.
It is about culture.
About tradition.
About understanding a place through what its people eat.
As we walk through the streets of Catania, I want to show you a different side of Italian cuisine — the arancini, the street food, the local flavours, the people, and the stories behind some of Sicily’s most loved dishes.
Because some of the best food in Italy is not always the food the rest of the world knows about.
This is Sicily beyond pizza and pasta.

Il bar/pasticcieria Caviezel davanti a Villa Bellini è forse il bar storico più famoso di Catania. Quando mio padre studiava al istituto dei geometri a Catani negli anni 50, era sempre lì a mangiare cannoli. Lo chiamavano "Franco, 4 cannoli"
