We spent the afternoon in Tenma, Osaka.
Home to one of the longest shopping arcades in Japan. Around 2.6 km of restaurants, bars, and constant movement from morning to night.
Tucked inside is Niku no Tenmaya Kaguratei.
One of only 111 restaurants in Osaka selected for Tabelog’s Hot Restaurant 2026. A ranking based on reservation volume. Places locals actually return to.
Their focus is A5 Kuroge Wagyu, especially mikeisan-gyu.
Female cattle that have not calved.
They represent roughly 10% of the market and are known for a lower melting point and a cleaner, softer fat.
This video shows their Wagyu Sukiyaki.
A thin slice of Ribeye, quickly seared, then paired with cured egg yolk and fresh rice.
A simple structure, but a very complete bite.
Tenma carries the kind of energy Osaka is known for.
Kaguratei fits right into it.
