Welp, you guys talked me into it! I decided that since I work in the metals industry, I should make my own Pizza Steel. Here's what I did.

I had 16" diameter laser cut out of 3/8" A36 Hot Rolled Steel. Everything I found for sale was only 1/4" thick. Then I ground all of the mill scale off the top and beveled the edges. Next, I coated the metal with avocado oil and baked it at 500 degrees for one hour. I repeated this process three times. Looks like it will be time to cook some pizzas tomorrow.

If you have any questions, ask away.

How much was the steel? I was going to do that too when I realized I’m too lazy to I found a 3/8” on amazon. at the time I think it would have been around $60 for the raw steel. https://a.co/d/0gvfvwrH

    First of all congrats!

The AMA offer is off the table but did you know avocado oil is sometimes faked?
    No offense just saying.

Really like the different shades while burning the steel in.

Looking forward for your next photos.
