In this video, Bob Paulinski Master of Wine searches out the best wine values at Costco, along with a wine tasting and discussion of each. A number of Kirkland Signature wines are tasted. My intent was to search out the best values from classic regions that also have a good level of availability. I went with eight wines that caught my attention. They represent five different countries, with price points ranging from $7 to $20 per bottle.
The mix will include wines that can be found broadly most times of the year, others with more limited availability, along those under Costco’s own Kirkland label. The mix will vary based on location.
It’s helpful if you can make sense of the different price signage within a Costco. This applies to wine or anything else in the club. Some tags will show additional supplier-funded discounts. Be sure to note the promo expiration date. Signs with an asterick in the upper right corner are items not currently being replenished, although it may return at a later date. Signs will show a cost that ends in 7, this notes a reduced price.

Great Video! I cracked up at “this wine hasn’t kissed a toothpick”. Haha. These kinds of videos are helpful. The only downside is with all the variability of Costcos throughout the US, most of these wines I never see at my local Costcos.
I bought the Brunello as soon as it came out and it was OK, but I did not rush to buy a second bottle.
I would love for a Costco here in Spain where I live!!!What is you favorite for drinking now and what is the one with the best cellaring potential?

It would be nice just for those that're not able to be there and get these bottles that you say or show the alcohol volume of each wine…..at least for me is one of the main features to deduct the style of the label or the region and producer… If you can try to make a video of good value syrah …Thanks..

Hay Bob, you’re correct, going to want to let that Kirkland Brunello air out for about one to one and a half hours, I found. Smooths out and I think turned into a totally different wine. Or age for another 3 to 5 years. The Barolo was good also and could age some too. Thanks for the advice. And as always: Enjoy the sunshine held together by water.🍷
If I quietly park my RV near your house around the block being much nicer and understanding than the rest of the neighbors and hiting the notifications bell….how often do you estimate I can get one of those open bottles…??

Finally got the Barolo
i will go check out my local costco and see if any of the wines are available here(I have had the 2018 brunello and the previous vintage, not sure which one, barolo,) both were quite approachable right from the get go but I haven't had the the most recent vintages, some of the wines in your videos are probably not available such as the cabernet sauvignon from sonoma and the red blend from Washington
Just realised Costco operates veeery differently in my part of the world. For starters, the international selection has dwindled to just a few dozens. But also the seasonality you mention, I don't see it very much over here! It's usually the same wines all year round with a few novelties every now and then. Definitely much harder to find any particular wine over here, even Kirkland Signature. The Barolo was terrific though! I'll see if I can find the CdR Villages. Great tastings! Cheers

Hey Bob, after hearing you went to costco specifically to look for the Barolo, I must share that in the costco app under the fourth tab labeled "warehouse", you can set the location to your local costco and search to check if they have inventory to save you from driving there only to come away empty handed. Cheers!
Should have bought more than one Barolo because when I went back it was gone.
