In the middle of the night on November 12th, 2019, Venice was hit by the highest tide in more than 50 years. 80% of the city was immersed under water, hundreds of businesses were destroyed and the ancient crypt of St. Mark’s Cathedral was flooded. The worst flood since 1966 set in motion a worldwide effort to save the city from the both sinking and rising sea levels. We investigate the events that followed from the day after this catastrophic event and what led to the disaster that could have destroyed Venice forever. Reconstructing the tragedy with hundreds of photographs, Β real footage and witness interviews that were shot during the emergency, we look back to 50 years ago when it all started.

  1. Eventually nature reclaims everything that belongs to her. Very sad situation but corruption is nothing new, human incompetence is nothing new, winners and loosers is nothing new. I visited Venice in mid 90's and it was very cool but it does not compare to natural buty of lets say Alaska or Tahiti.
