Bruschetta is an antipasto from Italy consisting of grilled bread rubbed with garlic and topped with olive oil and salt. Variations may include toppings of tomato, vegetables, beans, cured meat, or cheese. In Italy, bruschetta is often prepared using a brustolina grill.
Main ingredients: Bread, garlic, olive oil
Variations: Tomato, vegetables, beans, cured meat, cheese

As Marcello Brunini says, bruschetta is usually served as “antipasto” (hors d’oeuvres) or as a snack while drinking wine; so they can be served by themselves or along with other dishes like morsels of cheese, olives, mixed plate with salame, prosciutto etc., pickled vegetables.
