The topic of the day is Gavi.
🍇Gavi is a dry white wine produced in the Northern region of Piedmont in Italy.
🍇Gavi wine is named after its appellation (the wine-producing area in which it is made), but the grape used to make it is called Cortese.
🍇Due to the above 👆 Gavi is also sometimes labelled ‘Cortese di Gavi’ and ‘Gavi di Gavi’.
🍇Gavi has delicious flavours of stone fruit, ripe citrus and floral aromas. It is definitely something worth trying if you are a fan of other Italian dry white wines such as Pinot Grigio and/or Soave.
🍇Gavi was awarded DOCG status in the late 1990s, hence it is considered an elegant style of wine due to its elevated appellation (promoted from its original DOC status).
🍇Gavi wine is made in an area of less than 2000 acres.
Have you ever tried Gavi? If not, what is your go-to ‘weekend wine’?
