Specifically, baker Raffaele Esposito from Naples is often given credit for making the first such pizza pie. Street vendors in Naples sold flatbreads with toppings for many years before then. At first, it was bread with oil and herbs.

The word “pizza” is thought to have come from the Latin word pinsa, meaning flatbread (although there is much debate about the origin of the word).
In our modern days, there is a lot of variety of pizza all over the world. Lots of pizza parlors came out with their own specialties and ingredients.
