An Italian restaurant that opened in 2021 after the owner, former Denver restaurateur Dolores Tronco, returned to Denver from New York City because of the Covid-19 pandemic, announced on Instagram that it has closed.

The Greenwich, at 3258 Larimer St., specialized in Italian dishes before switching to pizza and small plates.

Drew Davis, who bought the restaurant from Tronco on Jan. 1, 2026, blamed himself for problems that resulted in the closure.

โ€œDespite efforts from our wonderful team, the business was never able to find its footing after I took the reins in January. For this, I accept full responsibility,โ€ he wrote. โ€œWe are navigating the same challenges that restaurants across the city are facing, and I made mistakes that only compounded those difficulties. I am sad for our community, our vendors, and especially our team.

โ€œTo those who ate here, celebrated here, and shared a story about us, thank you. I took on the Greenwich because I continue to believe deeply in the necessity of restaurants in the cultural fabric of any great city. I am proud to have contributed to that very worthy cause, even if imperfectly and only for 10 months,โ€ he continued.

Tronco, who was one of the co-founders of Work & Class in 2016, left Denver for New York, but returned after her restaurant there, the Banty Rooster, was forced to close because of the pandemic. She brought Justin Freeman with her as the opening chef; he is nowย the head chef at vegan restaurant Somebody People and the owner of Monarch pizza inside the Urban Cowboy motel.

She announced last year that she planned to return to New York and had sold the business to Davis.
