ELKHART, Ind. (WNDU) – An Elkhart pizza chef is back home after winning a world title in Italy, and she is sharing her award-winning recipe with local diners.
Carmela Cataldo Williams, co-owner of Antonio’s Italian Ristorante, won first place in the Traditional American Division at the 2026 Caputo Cup in Naples, Italy in June.

Williams’ journey to the top was not without its challenges. Her trip started out as a nightmare when her key ingredients were seized at the airport.
Faced with a major setback on the international stage, Williams adapted by sourcing all of her ingredients locally in Italy. The quick thinking paid off as she secured the first-place division title.

This is not the first time the local eatery has been recognized on a global scale. Antonio’s has won two other world titles at international pizza competitions, with both of those victories taking place in Las Vegas.
