it's complicated, but yes, there is still a difference between northern and southern italy. after the end of the kingdom of two sicilies, and the revolts mentioned in the video (not well handled by the royal family, as all the royal families of the time…) made impossible for the south to be well developed (much more complicated than that, of course). that's the main reason of the mass migration from southern italy between the end of 1800 and the start of 1900. but it's not just north/south. italy is much more diverse that one from outside can imagine. local languages (dialects), food, mindset. but to this day it's not a rivarly, it's more a source of banter between each other. personaly i see that as a source of "richness"
The coat of arms in the center of the flag is the royal coat of arms of the Savoia's family, kings of Italy. When Italy became a Republic, the coat of arms was removed.
