  1. Lasagna:
In a Dutch oven, brown 1 Lb Italian style ground pork and 2 lbs ground beef. Add 1 diced onion and two chopped cloves of garlic. Sauté until cooked. Add 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes, 2 (15 oz) cans of tomato sauce, 2 (6 oz) cans tomato paste, 1/2 cup water, 2 Tbs white sugar, 2 1/2 tsp dried basil leaves, 1/2 tsp fennel seeds, 1 tsp Italian seasoning, 1/4 tsp ground black pepper. Cover and simmer on low heat for one hour while stirring every 15 min.
Boil the lasagna noodles in heavily salted water for about 10 min.
In a separate bowl, mix together 1 (16 oz) container of ricotta cheese, 1 egg, dash salt, dash pepper, 1 Tbs each fresh chopped basil and Italian parsley.
Time to assemble! Spread 1 1/2 cups of meat sauce in a greased 9×13 in baking dish. Arrange 6 noodles lengthwise over the meat sauce. Spread the ricotta mixture evenly across. Sprinkle a layer of mozzarella cheese. Repeat meat sauce, noodles, meat sauce again and top last with mozzarella cheese.
Cover with tin foil ( I spray the tinfoil with cooking oil so the cheese doesn’t stick to it). Bake in a preheated oven at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 25-30 minutes. Take out of the oven and let rest for 15 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
