  1. being born and raised right in the heart of boston and owning my own business in boston center, i have literally never even heard of that sandwhich place i am so upset i have missed out. i am headed there right now and it isnt even 9am.

  2. Wow! You got some good advice on where to eat! Anyone could tell you that Regina Pizzeria (original Thacher Street location only) and Sam LaGrassa's are the best in Boston. However, while a lot of people would send you to Mike's Pastry; real North Enders (and your sources) know the best is Modern Pastry across the street. Why? No matter how busy it is, when you order cannolis (or lobster tails) at Modern, they take the shells into the kitchen and fill them with your choice of three creams. At Mike's, the cannolis are prefilled. So what? As soon as the cream hits the shell, moisture starts softening it.

  3. 24 hours? You could have done Boston in 24 minutes. Most of their famous dishes were created by people who had their tongues removed at birth.

  4. Spoiler: The stadium hosting the games is 40 mins south of Boston. Worse with traffic.

  5. You hit the best of the best here! Modern Pastry is the best hands down! IMO no one beats Sam's Black Romanian Pastrami. I love pastrami and I can't eat anything but Sam's since my first bite. When I bring friends there for the first time they think it's a bit expensive until they try it. One friend said the Pastrami was Life Changing. LOL I try to make Sam's a regular stop when in downtown Boston. I do not do seafood at all (allergies) but I am surprised you didn't hit Union Oyster house it's a Boston icon. When friends visit me they want to go there first for sea food. They all rave about it. Ragina's in the North End is the best of all their other places. IMO it's the oven they cook in. I have been going there since I was a kid my relatives lived in the North End and a few of them have worked there over the years. Another Icon of the North End is Umberto's something you should put on your list is you come back.

  6. If you don’t pop down to Rhode Island, you will miss out on one of the greatest culinary states in the country.

  7. The North Shore Beef is a cult in the greatest way possible. There are about a dozen or mom and pop shops that make some of the most incredible NSBs. Bella's in North Andover is my local favorite, but allegedly C+S in Pepperell (about an hour northwest of Boston) was crowned champion this year.

  8. Just left Boston after 29 years! Or far away, but man do I miss it already… ALSO modern forever!

  9. I’m in New England of many generations and I’ve lived the majority of my life either in Boston or just outside of it. Nothing more I love than seeing someone react to the city for the first time. As you found it’s a walkable city, which is one of its greatest attributes. You just scratched the surface mate, hope you come back soon.

  10. The funny thing is Boston isnt even near where the World Cup games are being played lol

  11. Hi Only Scrans,

Going to an entire city and only eating at one ethnicity's locations all within the same income bracket and general location is not exploring the food of the "city." It is literally trying only food made specifically by "x" people in a specific general area of "y" city.

  12. When it comes to Mike's or Modern, both are fine. Modern is slightly less touristy, but the locals know that Bova's on Salem St. is the place to go hands down.

  13. No mention of Rhode Island clam chowder??? The absolute best?? New England if you want to shit, manhattan if you don’t, Rhode Island if you want the best!
