Save this for your trip to Bergamo 🇮🇹✨
Bergamo might not be the first Italian city you think of for food but it has some real gems that are worth seeking out.
The light, airy focaccia-style pizza sold at Il Forniao is topped with fresh ingredients and can be eaten hot or cold. Grab a number, pick your slice and add on a nice glass of Prosecco from the bar. Heaven.
Creamy stracciatella gelato, laced with dark chocolate, has been delighting visitors since its invention in the 1960s. La Marianna is the original spot and remains a lovely bakery with artisan chocolates to boot.
Then there’s casoncelli… the most comforting little parcels of stuffed pasta. They come with meat and sweet spices but for veggies, Scarpinocc di Parre is stuffed with bread crumbs and cheese. It is possibly the oldest stuffed pasta in Italy. Nonna Alda runs fun cooking classes where you make your own casoncelli but make sure you have somewhere to cook it afterwards. The pasta they serve in the restaurant is made by the professional’s.
Whether you’re eating your way through the city or getting hands-on in a cooking class, Bergamo seriously delivers 🤌
