There’s a reason I love this time of year. Olio Nuovo is here!

From the groves to the mill, a whole lot of hard work and aching bodies go into producing that first fresh olive oil of the season. Green, grassy, peppery, and full of life. It’s liquid gold, and a little reminder of the people and traditions behind the things we enjoy around the table, often without giving much thought to what goes into making them.

Want to learn more about the producers and get your hands on some fresh oil? Read our latest newsletter, meet the people behind the harvest, and find out how to buy directly from them.

Your crunchy bread is waiting. Just remember to send a little love to the farmers while you’re busy licking the last drops of olive oil off your fingers.

  1. My mother planted the olive trees on my fathers family farm. I had heard rumor that he lost the farm in a bad hand of poker. Told my cousin that and she laughed and said, no grandpa didn’t pay his taxes and someone put a lien on the farm and they took the farm. Now it’s owned by Dole and still produces some of the most delicious varieties of oranges and olives in Souther California today.
