These traditional Italian cookies come from Piemonte in the north of Italy, which is famous for its hazelnuts, but they are very popular all over Italy. Baci di Dama translates as “Lady’s Kisses” because the two tiny biscuits are gently pressed together with a thin layer of rich dark chocolate in the middle. And if you can’t find ground hazelnuts you can also use ground almonds like I did. These biscotti are buttery, crumbly and so delicious that you won’t be able to eat just one! They also make the perfect edible gift for family and friends and you can even use your leftover Easter chocolate for the filling.

  1. Love the suggestion of involving the kids! Seeing as they’ll likely eat 90% of them. 😂

  2. I am reminded of the Baci Purugina silver wrapped chocolate bombones with a whole hazelnut

  3. As an Italian baci di dama are one of my favourite sweets. I live in Piemonte now and I'll never know they are Piemontesi. Anyway. Did you know baci di Alassio? They are from Liguria (I guess from Alassio😂) they are similar to Baci di dama but the "cookies" are made with sac á poche (so looks like two "fiamme" joined at the bottom) and they are made with cocoa powder. It's like the final boss of pastry. You know you shouldn't eat more than one but you can't stop.😂😂

  4. Bravo! Grazie!
