Did you know that pizza was originallya food for the poor? In the past, the city of Naples was filled with laborers who could only live hand to mouth.
Where to continue their lives they needed food that was fast, filling, and cheap. So people started making flat dough, then topped with tomato sauce, a little oil, and leftover cheese, then baked.
So only ordinary people ate it. But everything changed in 1889, when Queen Margherita, who was bored with palace food, tried the common people’s food.
and to honor the queen, a special pizza was made, with red tomato toppings, mozzarella cheese, and basil, whose colors were similar to the Italian flag, and because the queen really liked the food, from then on the pizza was called pizza Margherita.
And since then, pizza has finally risen to the level of becoming a national symbol
