Ex-Colombo family underboss’s son and a former caporegime Michael Franzese sets the record straight on the massive differences between the American Mafia and Mexican Drug Cartels. Tired of internet misinformation, Michael uses his 20+ years in “the life” to explain why the Mob strictly outlawed major drug trafficking and how their subtle union infiltrations contrast with the paramilitary, government-fighting tactics of the cartels.

The cartels would eat the mafia
They're CIA any way, same shit, different day
mexico narco estado y su liga lavadora ⚽🤏
I find it very interesting how many ex-mafiosos said that they could practically slap the Mexican cartels three times and now, according to Michael Franceze, these are different things. What an interesting change of perspective; however, my greatest wish is for the cartels and mafia to go to hell.
American Mafia? I thought it was the Italian mafia operating in the US. As a Foundational Black American whose father worked directly with Italian mafia guys in Philly in the 60s & 70s & maybe the 80s, I disagree that the Italian Mafia wasn't pushing dope in Black american communities & neighbourhoods. Maybe the Italian mafia doesn't count that as pushing dope because their targets were Foundational Black Americans.
Mafia is brutal but cartel was way more demonic and barbaric
American War Drugs is as evil as it can get.
And made Cartels posible.
Did it stop drug use.Nope.And it never will.
Drugs at best should be regulated…Like u need to be 21 to buy them and a prescription. But a all out War on Drugs….Bucause that War is a war on Humanity itself
Mafia failed to distinguish personal and professional. As Mafia made it a point to respect family and legacy.
With Cartels, it’s all about profits.
We have no cartels in this country because the ultimate cartel is the U.S. Government, and the singular unforgivable sin committed against the Federal Government is competition….
The main difference I think of that the mob wants to avoid violence because it bring unwanted attention where as the cartels feed off the violence and almost revel in it. I watched a series a while back called Vegas and the mob and in it a Vegas historian said Vegas was the safest when the mob ran it because they lived there with their family and there was no way they would allow violent crime near their family where as the places run by the cartels are some of the most violent in the country.
lol the mafia would do the same thing the cartels do if they could and usa law enforcement wasnt stronger, dont kid yourselves in thinking this is some moral issue with usa mafia, they simply knew it wouldnt work to go against it by force like in mexico or other south american countries where they could
There is a difference between legitimate organized businesses and high level dollar printing organizations
The mafia dress better.
Not "us"? Tonto
Just a question Mike that comes to me from Godfather 2. Was the mob pushing olive oil and was the mobs brands any good ?😁
Wasn't there an olive oil war in the mob long ago?
Jgsdf could destroy the cartels give them they're katana swords back again I've seen their videos on here great combat tactics and new gun 🔫 Teno Hineki Banzai ✌️🫡🪖🥁🇯🇵🥷😎🥱
He also forgot to say if Mafias faced cartels in a battle the Mafias wouldn't just lose they would get wiped off the earth
The Mafia became politicians.
Isn’t the cartel a kind of mafia ?
Same garbage bruh
Mafia groups base the power in respect and leverage, cartels are just ruthless killers that point a gun to your head and ask if you want to get in the buisness
This is the way I see it:
– The mafia used their brain to find ways to make money. Our host here was found guilty of conspiring to defraud the government.
– The cartels are a bunch of mindless savages that do human traffic, drugs, boil people, I even personally saw a video (pre AI) of lunatics cutting out a (live man) heart and biting it.
You say none of the Italians or mafia weren’t racist omtowards other people ….as someone who is italin …they definitely were back
Then not all but it was a thing
The only way we can get rid of the cartels is to stop the drug use in America ,,,, the demand needs to end. No other country uses drugs like here in America
People glorify these punks, try clocking in and working a blue collar job till retirement and living an honest life. That's hard.
Imagine ruining an embargo trade and having use military resrouces as an excuse to skip paying taxes on said product
Cartels are closer to terrorist groups, like Isis.
These guys can fight small to medium sized governments.
The Mafia is closer to a gang, like the Crips. These guys can fight other gangs & other factions.
It’s like comparing a hand gun to a rocket launcher, two whole different levels.
Are you serious Michael?! You said it, in your time. BUT Now the Italian mafia especially based in Italy are heavily involved in drugs (in the billions)and other dangerous racets that is affecting Europe and other contents. At this point your just being biased, straight up. If your going to call out Mexican ca rtel, call out your people and their criminal shenanigans affecting the world too.
Typical Italian. Really arrogant. Italians are very much involved in drug trafficking. But he wont address the European Italian mafia.
I didnt understand the nepotism-related differences.
The tik tok Gen has never even read the weather reports, how would they know anything? lol The USA and Italy are first-world countries with completely different economic, structural and political systems and conditions. You can't just send armed groups there and unleash terror on the streets. When the Cosa Nostra reached its bloody peak in 1992-93, after killing prosecutors and politicians, the Italian government was forced to send 3,000 soldiers to Sicily. Six months later, Toto Riina was captured after more than 20 years on the run! If the state wants to, it can completely eradicate an organization. Mexico and Colombia are third-world countries and have completely different conditions. There, Escobar was able to kill thousands of people until the situation reached a breaking point and the government was forced to take real action while supported by US agencies and Cali. Similar like Riina, he was eventually killed in 1993. Nevertheless, the Italian Mafia is a completely different and powerful organization than the cartels. The 'Ndrangheta generates 50 billion in revenue annually! Because it not only kills and deals drugs but also exerts a strong influence in politics, business and society. The italian Mafia was and is so powerful because it deals not only with politicians, but also with intelligence agencies, the military, and Masonic societies. It's a well-established conspiracy of like-minded individuals. In comparison, the Mexicans are just a bunch of cowboys who pull their guns far too often on their own people.
Fuck the haters mike you were/are the real deal! These wee twats in this new gen dont have a clue what life was like back then, my own view on this topic is.. like you said most mob guys didnt do the drug game and certainly didnt use extreme violence towards the public, the cartels dont give two shits about human life wheras the mob were on a different level.
