What €35,000 Bought Me in Italy | Italian House Tour & Slow Renovation in Abruzzo
In this video, I’m sharing a full Italian house tour of my small village home in Abruzzo, Italy, which I purchased in 2020 for €35,000, just before the pandemic was announced.
The house is 61 square meters (657 sq ft) and is located in a medieval mountain village where my parents were born before immigrating to the United States. Since 2021, I’ve been restoring this old Italian house slowly, returning each year to make thoughtful renovations — keeping original elements where possible and updating only what was needed.
Some renovations have been completed, while others are still in progress, including exterior stonework and painting. This video shows the house exactly as it is today — an honest look at buying and renovating a house in Italy, done little by little.
In this slow house tour, you’ll see:
– A full walkthrough of a €35k house in Italy
– Life inside a small Italian village home
– Two fully functional bathrooms in 61 sqm
– Renovation choices made to save money and preserve character
– Original features that were kept and thoughtfully updated
– A home still evolving over time
This channel documents slow living in Italy, restoring an ancestral home, and life between Italy and the U.S. If you’re interested in buying a house in Italy, Italian village life, old house renovations, or cinematic, no-talking home tours — welcome to The Italian Home Diaries.

Thank you for being here 🤍
This house is still very much a work in progress — inside and out.
What part of the tour stood out to you most?
You've a beautiful little house. 😍👍 You did a good job by renovating and decorating. Don't worry about your oven. 60 cm is a standard size in Germany. Could you show war you have in town ? And how far it is to the next beach ? All the best 😍
What a wonderful home you found… I can see you’ve done a lot and it’s beautiful. We are following in your footsteps… as soon as our Colorado home sells we are on our way. Thank you for sharing.
Why the designer stuff?😮
Looks amazing! 1.Turkey is overrated and the stove is lovely! 2. Love the daybed idea! 3. When do you accept guests? Lol…ps keep the crack in the outside step.
Congratulations your home is a jewel, so precious and comfortable! Besides what a unique opportunity in life to be able to live in the town of your grandparents!
That’s a very nice home… the renovation work and materials used look of a very high standard. May i ask is the €35k just the purchase price and costs or does this cover the renovation costs to date as well?
Your place is really nice. I agree about the dining table. You should get something that folds down, at least on one side so it's more out of the way when you are not using it. Overall I think the decor choices are great! I would love to know how much you invested in the renovations and also how hard was it to find crafters to help get everything done? Thanks so much!
Very nice Table way too big for that space otherwise gr8
annoying music
Well done! Very cozy little birds nest!
what a lovely abode!
That door! Like a fortress. Love it.
Hi and CONGRATS. I bought one in Abruzzo for 25 all in 32,000 dollars. It had no oven. One bedroom one bath. You have lots more room . How far from the sea are you? You decorated it so cute
Sweet! ❤
Love your place! This is my dream unfortunately I’m 65 and poor lol! Congratulations!😊
I was hoping for a tour of the apartment more so than a tour of what is in the apartment.
Love those tiles! ❤
the curtain will catch fire over an oven.
I loved seeing the house and loved the cranberry Spode dishes, pillows and all your accents, tile is wonderful….space cozy….
The eagle and the snake motif above the door is symbolic of the battle of Good (eagle) over Evil (Snake). It isn't a heraldic symbol, but it is a symbol of ancient Roman and Greek origins.
