I find it's also sometimes difficult to recreate a result if you have to significantly scale back a recipe. There's a couple large batch recipes (think a dozen loaves of bread) I have, but I feel like it would take me a few attempts to properly scale back to a homemade portion.
Its also the atmosphere every sense is used in eating and everything will affect that dishes taste its no one thing. Make a five star meal and eat it in a small appartment while the neighbors are having a violent domestic that meal might as well be taco bell. Meanwhile eat taco bell in a fancy restaurant and it wont taste like taco bell. Provide pleasant smells and cozy music and candle light and and that cheap coffee will taste like a bohemian poetry corner even if its just your buddys couch. Feed every sense and food tastes better. Heavier cutlery also apparently makes people think the food is more expensive.

hmmm so what is it
I think it's also the experience of trying it for the first time, as well as the ambience!! It truly changes the experience in every level 🙂
