  1. Another great video Nonstop Eurotrip, I lived in Sicily in the 1990s and took the train from Messina to Roma or Milano quite a few times

  2. 😂😂😂 you don't know how easy you have it these days
In the 80s I went by train (using Interrail) from London to Siracuse
Overnight couchette from Calais Maritime to Naples. A couple of days in Naples and then to Regio. The journey along the Med from Naples was delightful. A couple of days in Regio and then train to Siracuse
Several days in Sicily and then overnight train from Siracuse to Firenze. The train was packed and was held for 6 hours by a lightning strike by Italian rail staff. I spent most of the journey in the corridor on on of the flip down seats
Anyway Firenze was nice and from there up into Switzerland, returning via Germany and Netherlands on Hoek to Harwich ferry where I got turned over by UK customs looking for cannabis. They had the delightful experience of emptying my rucksack of all of my fermentating underwear 😂😂
    Great days….

  3. Nice trip. Think I'd want to stop off at many of the cities for a night or 2 rather than rush from one end of the country to the other..

  4. Fun fact: the ETR.500s are classified as EMUs without being EMUs, since they have two power cars both in front and behind (similar to the ICE 1 in Germany). It was more of a marketing strategy back in the days in order to give them a proper “high speed train” image

  5. Just did a few different train journeys in Italy back in June. Did a Frecciarossa 1000 trip, one on Italo, one on the Frecciabianca, and a few other regional ones. The Frecciarossa was my favorite.

  6. the best thing about the ETR500 you rode is that some of those carriages are from the mid-late nineties, it is incredible to know they are that old and still so comfortable

  7. Small note about train reversals: the new Firenze Belfiore underground station is under construction, and it's due to be completed in 2028. This will be the new high speed train hub for the city, and it will get rid of train reversals in Firenze SMN, cutting travel time by 10-15 minutes. Regarding Rome and Naples, they could theoretically use Naples Afragola and Rome Tiburtina passthrough stations for this train, to cut off some more travel time, but I guess stopping at the main station makes sense to draw more passengers.

  8. The window alignment on the Executive Class is horrible. Kind of amazing our YouTuber glossed over this.
As such, no way I would pay a premium price or even a standard price for a bulkhead "view".

  9. Venus was named Aphrodites in greek; Athena was Juno in latin. Did you know that you could have a refund for that 40 min delay? You get some money back if the delay exceeds 5 minutes, but you have to ask for it (and keep your ticket of course).

  10. Always a great trip in the red arrow. Business is well worth the extra euros esp.if a discounted deal helps. Have never had a reliable trip on italo and gave up using them

  11. Lovely ride to see. I have been twice on an Italian highspeedtrain. The first one was the Freccio Argenta ETR 600 from Bologna to Rome and the second time was the Freccia Rossa ETR1000 from Rome to Milan. Both experiences were expetional. Next winter I will visit Italy again as I want to experence the IC Notte from Milan to Sicily, but I haven't made up my mind yet if it's gonna be Siracuse or Palermo. On my way back to the Netherlands there will be probably a new FR experience, most likely with a visit to Rome again.

  12. Milan Central Station is definitely not a fascistic architecture. It was designed and approved around 1905 and works began shortly after. Works vere delayed due to WWI and the subsequent lack of funds. Therefore the station could began service only in 1934. Meanwhile some minor decorations were added (the most important were those of the sumptuous royal entrance and waiting halls located on the east side of the building). Anyway the overall monumental layout and eclectical/art-deco architectural concept and materials remained those of the original proposal.
