  1. another property volcanic slate has in general, not sure exactly which type of slate we have in Priorat is that, it warms up and cools down extremely fast, which means it helps the sugar gathering but also it helps to keep acidity, so that combo with big fluctuation between day and night temperature, is an amazing combo. hence why wines have high alcohol and yet very balanced because of amazing acidity… unlike Bordeaux typical nonsense about alluvial soils, slates are actually unique😅

  2. I've been there with my wife almost 8 months ago, because of your fantastic orientation, specially in Porrera, also on BAROLO /BARBARESCO /ALBA regions, 2 months ago because of your guidance, thank you so much for the kindness 🎉🎉🎉❤❤

  3. If I had to rate this video, it would be 110/100! The words amazing, incredible, and superb don’t even begin to describe the quality, substance, and content of this video. I’m absolutely blown away! Also love the nerdy vibe in some parts — exactly what I want to hear and see! So much information and insights about Priorat! So many interesting details and so much coverage yet the length of the video is just under 9 minutes. In that short amount of time, you were able to discuss this wine region’s history, successes and challenges through the years, terrain and terroir including soil composition and climate and the grapes grown there plus the wine classifications. I learned so much from this video! Also, it was so funny that I said “Southern Rhône” in my mind, right before you said it in the video.😂 I have tasted only a few Priorat wines but mostly when I was in Spain. I’m looking forward to your specific suggestions complete with top vintage recommendations. Thank you for this video, John! It’s beyond outstanding and way above excellent. Bravo!

  4. important video because most wine drinkers know litttle of this superb region. heading their in may and very excited to taste and explore!

  5. I'm a big fan of the channel, you're doing amazing work, John. I've only just passed WSET level 2 exam, so still lots to learn, but your expert knowledge and attention to detail in these videos helps immensely. It's appreciated. Greetings from Edinburgh. Christophe

  6. I do enjoy Priorat but I tend to buy it on special offer from the local supermarket. My wine merchant – the Wine Society – has but a single example on its list, which I have yet to try. The top producers tend to be fairly pricey, for all the reasons you give.

  7. Hey Esquire, hope you’re enjoying your Valentine’s Day with a special fine wine!
