Having lived in our Mediterranean-style home in Austin for over a decade, Iโ€™ve shared much of our design process through the years. And yet, Iโ€™ve never shared a complete tour of the entire house, with the room-by-room details all in one place. So, along with the launch of my Sourcebook (below!) that includes links to everything in our house, I couldnโ€™t be more excited to share the official Camille Styles Home Tour.

[Music]
hey there Welcome to our Mediterranean style homeย ย
here in Austin Texas come onย
in and let me show you [Music]
around Welcome to our living room we wantedย
our home to feel like this welcoming Havenย ย
from the moment the guests walk in the houseย
I want people to feel like they can just getย ย
cozy and kick off their shoes and stay a whileย
before we kick off the entire home tour let’sย ย
do a little background on the house so my husbandย
Adam actually discovered this property while weย ย
were dating so that was like 16 years ago thereย
was an old 1950s house on the lot that was inย ย
pretty bad shape and the lot itself was totallyย
overgrown the place where our backyard is now wasย ย
actually completely wooded and you couldn’t evenย
see any of the downtown or lake views at all butย ย
we knew this property had so much potential soย
we spent the first year of our marriage workingย ย
with our architect and then we ended up buildingย
our house from the ground up at the time I hadย ย
never done a design project at this scale beforeย
and honestly I had no clue what I was doing so Iย ย
feel lucky that we ended up with a final resultย
that I still love so much now that we’ve beenย ย
in the house for 13 years there are definitelyย
some things that I’d love to change and updateย ย
but we kind of look at our house as this ongoingย
project it’s never fully done and every year weย ย
try to tackle one or two things it’s kind of likeย
the house just keeps evolving right along with us
this room is all about the natural light myย
favorite thing about the space is definitelyย ย
these big steel doors that open up to the outsideย
and just create this beautiful indoor outdoor flowย ย
my mood is very influenced by the sunshine andย
the weather so I love to be able to be in theย ย
space and just let the sunshine in it’s very goodย
for my mental health I often get asked what styleย ย
our house is and honestly I can’t point to justย
one particular design style but I do often useย ย
the words warm minimalism when I’m describingย
our home I’m always looking for this elementย ย
of Simplicity and I want every space to feelย
really warm and comfortable we do have a lotย ย
of Mediterranean influence in our design Adamย
and I went to Italy on our honeymoon so whileย ย
we were designing our house we were reallyย
inspired by the architecture and the outdoorย ย
spaces where we spent time in cpri we came homeย
from our honeymoon and began our design processย ย
and we really wanted to incorporate materialsย
like terracotta and plaster walls as well asย ย
so many of the plants that we chose for ourย
Landscaping like olive trees and Jasmine oneย ย
of the main questions that I get about our houseย
is what we used on the walls and a few years backย ย
I decided that I wanted to plaster our home Iย
am obsessed with plaster and lime wash walls Iย ย
just love that like character and patina thatย
they give a space But I wanted something thatย ย
would be very matte and textural so I foundย
this material called American clay it’s anย ย
Earth plaster that’s made in New Mexico it’sย
non-toxic it’s eco-friendly and it gives thatย ย
like very matte and textural feel it definitelyย
was one of the best decisions that we made aboutย ย
the house it’s not a small project it took a crewย
a couple weeks to come in and plaster the wholeย ย
house top to bottom but I definitely think itย
was worth it this painting above our fireplaceย ย
is probably my favorite piece of art in the houseย
it was painted by my husband’s brother Neil beforeย ย
he passed away and it is a treasure to us itย
hung above our bed for many years but recentlyย ย
we swapped it into the living room and I love howย
it adds texture and interest above the fireplaceย ย
while still staying in this neutral soothingย
color palette that goes with the rest of the
room moving on to the heart of our home theย
kitchen is where so many of the things thatย ย
I love to do happens from developing allย
the recipes for our site to Preparing ourย ย
meals together as a family and whenever we haveย
dinner parties everyone Gathers was around thisย ย
big kitchen island and we set out all the wineย
and snacks and it’s just such a fun like placeย ย
for everyone to congregate together I’ll beย
honest this kitchen has some design challengesย ย
mainly the lack of natural light I have exploredย
every possible way to add a skylight or a windowย ย
in here but the way the house is configuredย
there’s just not a way to do it I have toย ย
get creative with colors and styling to lightenย
up this space as much as possible when we builtย ย
the house we added a stainless steel vent hoodย
that I really fell out of love with as my styleย ย
evolved a few years ago we did a mini kitchenย
update and replaced it with a custom plasterย ย
Hood surround and it made the biggest differenceย
the hood has a hidden ventilation system that’sย ย
mounted to the inside of the surround and then weย
plastered over it in our American clay plaster weย ย
also replaced our old countertops with thisย
bright white Caesar Stone and the cloud burstย ย
concrete finish I love love love Caesar Stoneย
and I have used it in multiple design projectsย ย
for this we added a waterfall Edge to theย
countertop and made a continuous sink allย ย
out of the same Caesar Stone to just make it feelย
really seamless and clean our kitchen cabinets andย ย
shelves are the same stained White Oak thatย
we’ve had since we moved into the house andย ย
I’ll be honest this is definitely something thatย
I would love to change about our kitchen I thinkย ย
that adding unstained lighter Oak Cabinetryย
would really just lighten up the whole spaceย ย
but we’ve gotten a bid for what it would cost toย
replace all of the cabinets or even just refinishย ย
them and it’s so expensive so it’s going toย
have to wait until I have a new kitchen Rena
budget the bedroom really is My Sanctuary ourย
lives are so full from work to kids activities andย ย
this room is really where the hustle stops and weย
can just relax and really get recharged I try toย ย
make it as spa-like and Zen as possible this cozyย
reading corner is one of my favorite spots in theย ย
whole house I love to drink my coffee here in theย
morning and in the evening I’ll often curl up hereย ย
with a book or with my tea and just kind of likeย
wind down for the evening I searched for years forย ย
a lowprofile wood bed with built-in nightstandsย
but I could never find one that was exactly whatย ย
I was looking for we decided to design the exactย
bed of our dreams and then have it built by someย ย
local Carpenters it actually didn’t end up beingย
more expensive than many of the beds that I’d beenย ย
looking online here was my inspiration and theย
shop drawing that my designer friend Claire madeย ย
for our Carpenters we used an unstained Whiteย
Oak for a matte neutral finish and then had twoย ย
sconces hardwired into each side of the bed theย
switches are actually located into the side of theย ย
nightstand so they’d be invisible when you’reย
looking at the bed then I have an electricalย ย
outlet inside each drawer so I can charge my phoneย
in the drawer every night while I sleep it’s soย ย
convenient the art above the bed is actually aย
photo took on my iPhone when we were in [Music]
Italy I like to make a few minutes of every dayย
feel like my spa time and my bathroom really isย ย
the place where all my self-care happens I takeย
a bath in here almost every single night it is myย ย
favorite way to recharge and I love that we haveย
this big picture window with the shade that I canย ย
raise to let tons of natural light in the spaceย
although I do close it when it’s time for my bath
this media room has been so many different thingsย
through the years when we first moved in we madeย ย
it our home gym which I’m going to try to findย
an old photo of it so embarrassing we literallyย ย
had these shelves full of like bottled watersย
and hand towels just like a hotel and then weย ย
had an elliptical it was a Vibe and then when ourย
kids were born we turned it into their playroomย ย
which was great to have like a dedicated area forย
that and now that our kids are older we use it asย ย
our like family hangout space we play video gamesย
and watch movies together as a family so it’s everย ย
evolving but it’s super casual and just superย
cozy this room is so simple and everything inย ย
it was super affordable we did a CB2 couchย
and then our rugs are from Target honestlyย ย
when it comes to kids spaces I like to stick withย
just a really simple color palette and vibe thatย ย
goes with the rest of the house but I don’t wantย
anything that’s precious because let’s be honestย ย
it’s going to get destroyed from the video gameย
playing the sleepovers and the snacking that willย ย
happen in this [Music] room Welcome to our teamย
Studio space as you guys know we shoot a ton ofย ย
recipe content and we really needed a space withย
more natural light than our kitchen for shootingย ย
recipes and products for kasuma so we had theย
idea to transform our guest bed bedroom into aย ย
studio kitchen we shared the entire before andย
after process on the site so definitely checkย ย
that out we’ll Link in the description because weย
did it on a major budget and I think it came outย ย
pretty good for the countertop in here we usedย
sets of drawers and a laminate countertop that Iย ย
actually found at Ikea then I found a marbleย
shelf on clearance and I ordered some steelย ย
brackets from Etsy to mount them this was a littleย
challenging and I’ll be honest the end result isย ย
not perfect but for our purposes it gets the jobย
done and it was a lot cheaper than the alternativeย ย
the rest of the Space is really just all aboutย
styling a woven light fixture and movable Butcherย ย
Block Island that I found from makers on Etsy andย
then of course lots of Casa Zuma pieces displayedย ย
on the open shelves that just make it a perfectย
studio and creative space for our team to work
in this is our family office although usuallyย
Adam is the one who ends up working in here Iย ย
tend to work in the little Al off the kitchen butย
this tends to become The Dumping Ground honestlyย ย
for a lot of our kasuma samples and prototypes soย
with the decor I try to keep it pretty minimal andย ย
simple for me a clear space equals a clear mindย
so when it comes to my workspace I like thingsย ย
to feel clean I literally cannot think straightย
if there’s plotter okay let’s head upstairs andย ย
I’ll show you the kids’ [Music] rooms this Loftย
area has been several different things throughย ย
the years it’s started as a TV room when we firstย
moved in and then when we had kids it became theirย ย
playroom and now it’s what I call my meditationย
space essentially it’s just this really cozyย ย
kind of like cocoon area where I can do my videoย
workouts or people can just come and kind of chillย ย
it’s a very like simple low stimuli environmentย
I don’t think I’ve shown any photos of our kids’ย ย
room since they were nurseries so I am definitelyย
of the mindset that kids should be able to freelyย ย
Express themselves in their bedroom so I reallyย
don’t get too involved in the decor and kind ofย ย
just let them decorate their rooms with whateverย
expresses their personality so Henry is my neatย ย
freak kid he’s very organized by nature and hisย
room is actually pretty minimalist doesn’t haveย ย
a lot of clutter but he definitely likes hisย
collections of his Legos his Star Wars stuffย ย
and then he loves books he and I are reading theย
wild Ro bot right now and we love to just likeย ย
have our bedtime reading time together it’s kindย
of our favorite way to wind down at the end of theย ย
night Phoebe is not quite as minimalist as herย
brother the girl loves her collections stuffedย ย
animals beauty products she’s got a lot of stuffย
in here one thing I love about the kids’ rooms areย ย
these big open Windows it just kind of makes themย
feel like they’re tucked away in a treehouse andย ย
lets in tons of natural light all right let’sย
take it outside our backyard is actually myย ย
favorite part of the entire house it’s taken usย
12 years to get it to this point we have workedย ย
on this space so much over the last several yearsย
and now we spend tons of time out here every dayย ย
our backyard is divided into two areas we haveย
this upper area that’s kind of our outdoor loungeย ย
area and then we have the lower level which isย
our larger Gardens up here we hang out all theย ย
time it connects directly to our living roomย
so I like to think of it as just this kind ofย ย
extension of the rest of the house true outdoorย
living space we sit around the coffee table allย ย
the time and have dinner as a family and oftenย
times when we are entertaining all of our friendsย ย
come out here and hang out and then on this levelย
we also have our pool which we use all the timeย ย
my favorite thing about our pool is actually theย
color it’s this like deep blue that really remindsย ย
me of the Mediterranean our pool area is on theย
same level as our house so this was the firstย ย
phase of our back yard project it’s pretty crazyย
when we bought this house we could barely see anyย ย
downtown Skyline at all just a couple buildingsย
but Austin has exploded so much that we now haveย ย
this full-blown downtown Skyline View it’s soย
beautiful especially at night since our home sitsย ย
up on a high Hillside our foundation is built on aย
30ft retaining wall we went with an infinity edgeย ย
pool to really maximize the feeling of being likeย
built into the cliff and I love that when we’reย ย
in the pool it feels almost like you’re suspendedย
in this tree house let’s head down to the lowerย ย
backyard which is by far the biggest designย
project we’ve ever [Music] tackled this spaceย ย
has been transformed from a dirt covered Hillsideย
into a space that’s been featured all over theย ย
Internet including an architectural digest andย
it has taken years of work to do it Adam andย ย
I typically try to tackle one big project downย
here every single year and over time we just keepย ย
refining it into the space that we truly love oneย
thing we’ve learned is we’ve continued developingย ย
this area of the property is the importance ofย
creating a master plan that really defines theย ย
purpose and the use for every different area it’sย
a big space so it’s really helpful to carve outย ย
different areas for our backyard we carved outย
spaces for dining for a fir pit a lounge areaย ย
and a vegetable garden that way as we’ve tackledย
each area in different phes over the years we knowย ย
that end Vision where we’re ultimately headedย
then we can use different materials like woodย ย
decking or gravel or hedge borders to carve outย
each of those spaces into these sort of outdoorย ย
rooms we use a ton of gravel back here whichย
we love because it’s super low maintenance andย ย
it’s used in a lot of Mediterranean spaces we’veย
really changed the plant life here over the yearsย ย
as we’ve learned the hard way what thrivesย
and what doesn’t tend to grow well in Austinย ย
since it tends to get really really hot here inย
the summer and it usually freezes a couple timesย ย
in the winter it’s really important to chooseย
super hearty plants that can stand up to bothย ย
of those conditions so we use a lot of boxwoodsย
Hawthorns and Cherry Laurels and then we do haveย ย
some olive trees and lemon trees but we have toย
be so careful to cover them before a freeze soย ย
that they’ll actually survive the cold my raisedย
garden beds are a newer addition to the backyardย ย
and I’ve been having so much fun learning moreย
about grow gr vegetables and herbs it’s definitelyย ย
a process and I’ve had a few fails but I’m gettingย
better this spring I’m growing multiple types ofย ย
tomatoes summer squash melons and of courseย
lots of herbs and that’s the grand tour thisย ย
house has really been such an incredible home forย
us through the years it has evolved so much and Iย ย
feel like every different room really tells theย
story of our family it is our endless canvas forย ย
creativity and inspiration drop any questions youย
might have in the comments I will do my best toย ย
answer them and I will also link my Source bookย
that has links to as many different things in ourย ย
home as I could find thanks so much for joiningย
us on this home tour and I will see you next time

  1. Dang, one of the best houses on the internet. Extra respect for her letting her kids have creative freedom in their own rooms. Absolutely sunning.

  2. Unapologetically open question::: How Do you (both) get the money for all this?!?
I'm astounded at the millions it must take to get 'here'. Do you owe a few bankers? Or are you bankers? Oil people?
Yes it's gorgeous, yes you are fortunate, yes we all envy you, yes you make it look so easy…
I just could cry at the suffering of so many I know, and to see you describe everything with such ease and appreciation is just,,, beyond.
    -I am also Camille.

What is not for me is the Kardashian tone, not for me. Rather than that is beautiful !!!!

  4. Warm minimalism, yes, but definitely also Modern Organic. All I can say is everything about this space is perfectly curated and tasteful. Great job.
