RECIPE WRITTEN IN DESCRIPTION BOX
MAKES 6 PIZZA BURGERS
BURGER MIXTURE:
* 2 POUNDS MILD ITALIAN SAUSAGE
*. 2 EGGS
*. 1 CUP PANKO BREAD CRUMBS
* 1/2 CUP PIZZA SAUCE
*. 1/4 CUP PARMESAN CHEESE-OPTIONAL
* 1/2 teaspoon Basil – OPTIONAL
*. 1/2 teaspoon Oregano – OPTIONAL
*. 1/2 teaspoon Italian Seasoning -OPTIONAL
Mix well. Divide into 12 equal patties.
Press into thin patties (Use a burger press if you have one.) Press onto either parchment paper, wax paper or plastic wrap sprayed with Pam non-stick spray to make that process easier)
* 6-12 slices of Smoked Provolone Cheese
Place 1 or 2 slices of provolone cheese between two Patties and seal edges.
Press panko bread crumbs to outside of each burger.
Place on lined baking sheet and finish the remaining 5 burgers the same method.
Heat 1” of vegetable or peanut oil in deep fryer or electric skillet or pan to 325 degrees.
Fry 4 minutes, or until golden brown. Turn, cook 4-5 minutes or until a thermometer reaches 180-185 in center of burger.
Remove and drain in a wire rack.
Serve on a bun with optional Pizza Sauce on top of the burger.
These freeze beautifully between pieces of parchment paper. You can pack them for tailgating or picnics if you have a fryer or electric skillet available.
