I24 News Story about – First academic course in Israel in wine-making is next step in growing local wine industry

Today, Israel’s wine industry is recognized worldwide for an array of international award-winning offerings. Until now the country’s winemakers came from abroad or had to study there. Now, the Robert H. Smith School of Agriculture in Rehovot has become home to the first-ever academic course in Israel for viticulture (science, production, and study of grapes) and oenology (science and study of wine-making), granting a Master of Science degree and offering the next generation of winemakers an opportunity to study locally.

On July 5 the School of Agriculture, will host an end-of-the-year public reception for students of the course and their guests, to be held at the Barkan winery near Revovot. You are invited to attend the reception and learn about this pioneering educational opportunity and its impact on the Israeli wine scene, as well as to speak with the graduating students who will be entering the domestic world of grapes and wine-making.
