Crostini Misti – Inside the grand central market of Florence you’ll find a range of eateries serving incredible selections of Italian food. We spent much of our time exploring this market and began with the ‘cousin of Bruschetta’ – Crostini! Total price – €10.00 (£9.10)
Norma/Supplì – Deep fried rice ball shoved with aubergine (or meat), this is a super popular snack across Italy especially in the south. We were lucky to find this delicious vegetarian version in the central market. Total price – €4.00 (£3.64)
Ribollita – Created by the peasants of the middle ages, the Ribollita was born when workers collected the leftover minestrone/vegetable soup and bread from their bosses and reboiled everything together to create this hearty favourite! A real taste of Tuscany! Total price – €8.00 (£7.28)
Truffle Cream Sauce Pasta – One of the most expensive food items in the world, some of the best truffle can set you back €10,000 per kilo! This is a delicious way of enjoying the food. Total price €20.00 (£18.20)
Mushroom Risotto – The most popular way of cooking rice in Italy is in the form of a risotto. It’s more common in the north with Milan adding a very special take on things. Unfortunately we couldn’t try a Risotto Milanese but this mushroom version was awesome! Total price €9.00 (£8.19)
Ragù – The dish that paved the way for the creation of the Spaghetti Bolognese, the Ragù is truly delicious. We were very lucky to find a restaurant serving authentic Italian dishes that are HALAL! Make sure to try these guys out. Total price €16.00 (£14.56)
Tocino – A wonderful platter of cured meats, cheese and rocket drizzled with olive oil. As we wanted the halal option, we went for the Turkey! A wonderful side or antipasto. Total price €8.00 (£7.28)
Charcoal Croissant – In what was definitely a first, we tried some charcoal activated croissant. The famed pastry had a very intriguing colour but tasted like a normal croissant. Filled inside was a tasty fruity custard. Total price €1.50 (£1.36)
Espresso – An awesome way to start your day is with some potent Italian coffee. Italians make a mean coffee, this espresso was super strong and top of the range in quality. Total price €2.10 (£1.91)
