Gerry Martocchio, longtime owner of now-closed Gennaro & Son Italian Bistro, is officially back in the kitchen as a guest chef at Waves Seafood in Braintree.

Martocchio owned Gennaro’s Eatery at 12 Blanchard Road, just outside of Quincy Center, for more than 30 years before closing for retirement in August.

The restaurant served all-in Italian fare, including fresh bread, pizza, calzones and pastas. From lasagna to veal saltimbocca, Gennaro’s had all the quintessential favorites.

Now some of those favorites will be available at Waves Seafood in Braintree.

Martocchio has been in the kitchen at Waves making dishes like minestrone, chicken parmesan, spaghetti and meatballs, cheese lasagna and two dishes featuring fresh seafood from Waves: lemon caper halibut and swordfish scampi over rigatoni.

Martocchio’s fresh-baked bread were also available at the store this week.

Husband-and-wife team Ray and Kara Kelley opened Waves seafood market and takeout restaurant at 190 Quincy Ave. in Braintree in 2023 at the site of the former Curry Hardware. It offers fresh seafood, prepared meals and to-go food.
