Signs have appeared in the former Cade Piano, Friar Street, announcing that the restaurant will soon be known as La Contessa.
In a post on Instagram, a spokesperson said: “We are delighted to introduce La Contessa, a family-run Italian restaurant coming soon to the heart of Worcester.
“At La Contessa, our passion is simple: to bring you the true taste of Italy through authentic recipes, carefully selected high-quality ingredients, and delicious food prepared with love.
“As a family-run business, we believe that dining is about so much more than just good food; it’s about bringing people together, creating memories, and making every guest feel like part of our family.”
Refurbishment work started at Cafe Piano several weeks ago, but the owners were tight-lipped on what people could expect, other than revealing their Italian inspiration.

The spokesperson added: “From our kitchen to your table, we promise delicious Italian food, genuine hospitality, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes Italian dining so special.
“We cannot wait to open our doors and welcome you into our little corner of Italy.”
No opening date has been announced yet, but posters in the restaurant’s windows are advertising for waitresses, bar staff and management.
