When I don’t feel like putting much effort into cooking, pasta is there for me. Paired with a jarred sauce, it’s a nearly effortless dinner. And a brand I often turn to for delicious pasta sauces is Sauz.

The jarred pasta sauce brand just dropped a new flavor last month, and it’s a tasty take on a classic. Meet Sauz’s Zesty Italian Vodka Sauce. It’s creamy, zippy, and so good. You’re going to want to grab two jars.

The 3-year-old jarred pasta sauce brand makes some utterly delicious options, including Summer Lemon Marinara, Brown Butter Alfredo, Creamy Calabrian Vodka, and Lemon Pepper Pesto (one of my personal faves).

Target

In September, Sauz launched its Zesty Italian Vodka Sauce, which is available exclusively at Target. While the brand offers a similar sauce — the Creamy Calabrian Vodka — on its website and at Target, this new sauce doesn’t have any chili peppers in it, so it’s well-suited to people who don’t like or tolerate spice well. It features tomatoes, tomato purée, onions, cream, Parmesan, salted vodka (yes, you read that right), and roasted garlic purée (among other ingredients).

You can snag one 25-ounce jar at Target for just $7.89, compared to the $12.49-per-jar cost on Sauz’s website (where jars are only available for purchase in sets of two or four). That said, you’re probably going to want to stock up.

Sauz’s new Zesty Italian Vodka Sauce is so comforting. It’s got a, yes, zesty tomato flavor that’s a little bit acidic, rounded out with garlic and onions. The result is a bold, creamy, zippy, delicious sauce that pairs very nicely with penne.

Penne pasta in a creamy orange sauce, two slices of cheesy bread, and a side of fresh arugula on a white plate.

Another thing I like about this pasta sauce is that it’s made with olive oil. Many jarred pasta sauces use soybean, canola, or sunflower oil as an inexpensive base or filler, but traditional homemade marinara only uses olive oil — so this gives Sauz’s vodka sauce a homemade flavor.

You can add a sprinkle of red pepper flakes and Parmesan to your finished pasta for even more flavor if you want to. And adding protein to the mix, like chicken cutlets, would make this an even more satisfying meal.
