A hospitality group that’s been picking up speed in nearby Montreal is now opening their first ever Toronto project.
Donato Group is responsible for multiple popular concepts that are going full steam ahead in Montreal, and now the group has set its sights on Toronto for a new opening in a new city.
Along with Sabrosa, Spuntino, D Burger, Donato Gelato, Le 404 and Mona, Donato Group operates Ristorante Donato in Montreal, and now they’re on the verge of opening a restaurant called Casa Donato in Toronto.
Sabrosa is a Latin American restaurant, D Burger is a spot for smash burgers, Donato Gelato doles out that beloved gelato, Le 404 is a speakeasy and Mona has a Mediterranean street food vibe.
From the looks of their social media, the restaurant will be serving classic Italian fare such as fresh pasta and gourmet gelato that’s apparently famous in Montreal.
Casa Donato should be an all-day concept that takes people in Toronto from morning coffee to relaxing dinners to tasty desserts.
When it comes to Ristorante Donato, the Montreal restaurant serves lunch, dinner, brunch and cocktails. The menu consists of the traditonal antipasti, seafood, meat, pasta and pizza, with the luxe option to add on your choice of a variety of caviar.
Similar to the caviar, some items at Ristorante Donato that take the Italian restaurant to the next level are salmon tartare, oysters, shrimp cocktail, lobster spaghetti, and a milk-fed veal chop with the option to add on pricey black truffle.
Toronto has a huge Italian population and is already choc full of great Italian restaurants, so it will await to be seen what diners in Toronto think of Montreal’s new contribution to the Italian food scene.

The restaurant is currently hiring for all roles, and is accepting applications through their website. Roles include server, server assistant, host, barista, bartender, general manager, sous chef, line cook, dishwasher, pastry chef, executive chef, cafe server, floor manager and prep cook.

Casa Donato at 660 Spadina Ave. should be opening around fall 2026.
