Oudh1722, the debut London restaurant from Aktar Islam, the chef behind Birmingham’s two Michelin-starred Opheem, features Awadhi cuisine, a style shaped in the royal courts of Lucknow. This is one of the hottest new openings of the year so be sure to book. The food certainly lives up to the hype and the vibe is buzzy. The menu starts with naashta (street-food style snacks). Be sure to try the Gol guppa, a crispy treat stuffed with spiced potato. The curries are fabulous, especially the Gulnaar tandoori chicken and the monkfish curry.

Latine
Latine, tucked away on Lancashire Court in Mayfair, is led by Executive Chef Francisco Lafee (El Celler de Can Roca and Barrafina). The menu pairs classic French technique with Latin American flavors. To start, Boeuf Bourguignon Tacos are a must, as are the Duck Croquettes with a guava and chipotle chutney. And the ceviches and tiraditos are also fabulous. For dessert, a highlight is plantain tarte tatin with coffee caramel, moreish but not too sweet. Latine features a ground-floor restaurant, that spills out onto a discreet terrace, first-floor lounge and a beautifully hand-painted private dining room. A late-night bar, LACAV, is planned for September.

Ma/Na is a new venture from the Thesleff Group, the team behind Los Mochis, Viajante87 and Sale e Pepe. Executive Chef Leonard Tanyag’s considered Japanese menu features a fantastic rock shrimp tempura, prawn gyoza, and a surprisingly good seaweed-based dish. The offering moves from elegant sushi and sashimi to robata-grilled dishes, tempura and small plates designed for sharing. The non-alcoholic cocktails are great too.
