Langhe, Italy’s Most Underrated Wine Region – 4K Scenic Drive

Enjoy this morning drive through one of the world’s most beautiful, yet underrated wine regions: the Langhe in Piedmont, Italy.

Route: Cessole → Mango → Neive → Barbaresco

A drive through the heart of the Langhe, Piedmont’s UNESCO-listed wine region — vineyards, hazelnut groves, medieval villages, and views that don’t quit.

We start in Cessole, a quiet Alta Langa village where woods and hazelnut orchards still outnumber vines — the less-touristed side of Piedmont. Heading north, the forest gives way to vineyards as we roll into Mango, perched on its hilltop with views over the Moscato and Nebbiolo country below. It’s also Cesare Pavese country — the writer drew heavily on these hills for his novels.

The stretch from Mango to Neive is the highlight of the drive: ridge roads through some of the Langhe’s best vineyard scenery, with the Alps (Monviso included, on a clear day) on the horizon. Neive itself is one of Italy’s officially recognized “Most Beautiful Villages” — cobbled streets, stone houses, and a few perfect spots for an espresso or a glass of Barbaresco.

From there it’s on to Barbaresco through the pittoresque Nebbiolo vineyards.
